These 10 NFL records are all within reach in 2022

Some of the NFL’s longest-standing records surprisingly held up through the inaugural 17-game regular season. The record set by Eric Dickerson in the sprinting event remained intact. All of Peyton Manning’s throwing records, including yards and touchdowns, remained unbroken. Pass rusher T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers tied but did not surpass Michael Strahan’s single-season sacks record. These 10 NFL records are all within reach in 2022

While Dickerson, Manning, and the rest of the 2022 squad might get lucky this season, they might not be so fortunate the next year. Several previous highs may all be broken at once this coming winter. What are they, and who can perform them, exactly?

Receiving yards record is among the top 10 NFL Records:

Currently, Kelvin Johnson holds the record (1,964 yards in 2012)

Cooper Cup almost matched Johnson’s record last season. Current Super Bowl MVP Julio Jones caught a league-high 123 passes for 1,947 yards and a touchdown (145). Cap has a chance to set an NFL record by accumulating 2,000 receiving yards before anyone else if he and quarterback Matthew Stafford continue their success.

Ball hitting record:

Michael Thomas is the current record holder (149 in 2019)

Kapu needed just four more tricks to tie Thomas. He had an excellent connection with Stafford and showed incredible tenacity with the bat. Cap caught at least 80 percent of his passes in 15 games last season.

Sack record is among the top 10 NFL Records:

Michael Strahan (22.5 in 2001) and T.J. Watt (21.75 in 2008) hold the current record (22.5 in 2021)

Watt’s record is now tied with Strahan’s, despite his absence from two games due to injury. Watt also had the most rushing yards in the league for the second year in a row. His five forced fumbles were a major factor in his first-ever Defensive Player of the Year award. Although the Steelers have strengthened their linebacker and defensive lineman depth, Watt may still try to set a new franchise record this season.

Rushing yard record:

Eric Dickerson is the current leader (2,105 yards in 1984)

If Derrick Henry hadn’t been injured after amassing 937 yards in the first eight games of the previous season, Dickerson’s record might not have stood. It’s likely that Henry will break the record in 2022, but you shouldn’t discount Jonathan Taylor’s stellar performance as a rookie.

Record for accurate passes is among the top 10 NFL Records:

Tom Brady is the current record holder (485 in 2021)

If Brady keeps this up, he may set a new record for passing yards in 2022, five years after he shattered Drew Brees’ record that had stood for five years. The only game he didn’t have at least 20 assists in was the last. The Rams were the recipients of 41 of his passes during a regular season game.

A new benchmark for passing yards

Peyton Manning is the current record holder (5.477 in 2013)

Last year, Brady threw for 5,316 yards, which was very close. That’s about 300 more yards than the next-best quarterback, Justin Herbert of the Chargers.

The record for passing attempts is among the top 10 NFL Records:

Matthew Stafford is the current leader (727 in 2012)

When compared to Stafford’s total, Brady was only eight passes away from matching it. The quarterback for Tampa Bay attempted 30 passes or more in every game this season. A total of 54 times in the playoff game against the Rams, he attempted the lateral pass.

Stats on Interceptions:

Knight Train Lane is the new record holder (14 in 1952)

Former Raiders CB Lester Hayes, who came close to the Night Train record with 13 interceptions in 1980, came the closest. Trevon Digs, a cornerback for Dallas, nearly set a record with 11 interceptions in 2016. JC Jackson, a cornerback with the Chargers who is well-liked due to his eight steals in the Patriots’ final season, is another fan favorite.

The field goal distance record is among the top 10 NFL Records:

Justin Tucker is the current world record holder (66 yards in 2021)

There’s every reason to believe that Baltimore’s star kicker, who only last year established a record, will attempt a 67-yard kick if the situation calls for it. When Tucker was a rookie with the Ravens, he helped the team win the Super Bowl. This past season was possibly his greatest. He was successful on all six of his attempts from 50 yards or more, kicking 95% of field goals.

Record for total touchdowns:

LaDainian Tomlinson is the current record holder (31st in 2006)

It will be challenging to beat this record, even with an extra game. In spite of this, there is a select handful who are in a position to challenge L.T.’s standing in history. Cooper Cap of the Los Angeles Rams, Austin Eckler of the San Diego Chargers, and Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers are among those players.
