With the evolution of Saudi Arabia, getting more modern, open to the world, and becoming liberal. No one could have considered modeling, but now this profession is flourishing day by day. Many female models are being seen in advertisements for certain brands.  We have tried to dig down more in this field by interviewing a famous model, Karina Komil. Karina has revealed many mysteries about the life of a model in KSA.

Background

Russian and half Tajik Model, a multitalented woman who is also a singer and poet-writer. Her music albums and songs are available online to the public. As an explorer always looking for advanced opportunities during her life. She got a job offer from KSA which was really exciting for her by exploring another country and decided to go for it.

Journey in KSA

Karina was working as a VIP flight attendant in an airline but COVID has affected her job badly. She decided to go for designing the cloth and planned to design bags also in the future.

Modeling Career

It’s been 11 years since Karina is in this modeling profession. She loves to be a model and likes to be in this field. In the beginning, there was no quality work due to a lack of designers and models. Mostly there were makeup artists, but things are changing gradually in Saudi Arabia now.

Evolution of fashion in KSA

Karina has seen the changing fashion in KSA deeply, lots of changes have happened recently. Saudi fashion has gone through evolution by balancing its traditional sense of fashion.

Future plans

Karina is interested to become more advanced in the fashion industry. She is already working to improve and further wants to revolutionize Saudi and CIS fashion. New pieces of training are important in the industry, especially for youngsters

Karina‘s favorite city in Saudi

Al Ahsa is her favorite city because of the good food, weather, and people’s generosity. Karina said that this city reminds her of a small town in Tajikistan. She fell in love with the fragrances of houses and bread and the cozy environment.

Working culture

Karina is absolutely fine with the working culture. She has many male photographers as her good friends and has never faced any rude or bad behavior.

Modeling as a full-time job

Model Karina revealed that the trend of modeling in Saudi is flourishing but it needs more time, so one cannot rely on just modeling financially.

Can find a life partner is difficult for a model?

We asked her that “There are many professions in which finding a life partner is very difficult like nurse, doctor, model due to the late working hours or working nights. Modeling is one of them, the working hours are odd”. Contrary to this her reply was very positive. She said that any profession doesn’t restrict you from getting your partner as it’s in your destiny.

Most Unsatisfied experience

Modeling is the combination of a good model and photographer. Karina told us that it is unsatisfactory for every model to have a bad photographer. If a model is dedicated but the photographer is not so good then it’s all ruined. Professional photographers should know the right angle and ideas for taking pictures. Excellent photography can boost the confidence of a model.

Challenges regarding traditions

Karina said that as a Muslim she did not face any challenges regarding religion or customs. It’s been 6 years she has been working in Saudi and love to be here for more years.

Emotional challenge

Staying away from home is really a hard challenge for everyone. Model Karina has been in Saudi for 6 years she used to visit her mom off and on but she misses her every day.
