When playing “The Last of Us ,” a 2013 video game by Naughty Dog, it becomes clear why it is frequently cited as one of the best games ever made, not just of its generation. With its excellent writing, endearing characters, and captivating gameplay loop, “The Last of Us” transcended the zombie apocalypse genre and won praise from critics.

It tells the tale of a smuggler named Joel who is task with accompanying a teenager name  Ellie across the country in an effort to find a cure for an apocalyptic spores-base infection. Its sequel, “The Last of Us Part 2,” was out in 2020 and earning comparable praise from critics, while it split fans owing to its iconic plot twist. Despite the divisive sequel, the success of both games has resulting in them being made into HBO television series planned to premiere in 2023.

Though set photographs have been leaking in recent months, nothing official has been disclosing… until now. On August 21, a teaser trailer for the TV adaptation was publishing. Which was giving fans quick views of what the show will look like. Needless to say, fans are ecstatic.

Fans react to The Last of Us’ teaser trailer

The teaser for the TV adaptation of “The Last of Us” is short about 30 seconds long. It also shows only brief glimpses of star actors Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie, respectively. However, in that small period of time, the teaser appears to have struck a chord with the original material’s fandom. Many readers on a Reddit post containing the teaser clip were pleasing with what they saw. This was especially Pascal’s performance as Joel. Others appearinng to be impressing with the first glance at Nick Offerman’s depiction of Bill from the original game. 

However, several have raised significant reservations. On Twitter, user @SarahFreer expressed disappointment with Ramsey’s limited lines as Ellie. Another Twitter user, @TheCodingArt, liked Pascal’s voice as Joel but was unimpressing by the rest of the footage. Overall, the reaction to the show’s first official sneak peek has been overwhelmingly positive. But there have been some who have expressing reservations to its release.
