The Eagles have sent former first-round wide-out Jalen Reagor to the Vikings.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to trade former first-round receiver Jalen Reagor to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a conditional fourth-round pick in 2024 and a seventh-round pick in 2023, according to sources cited by Rapoport. Later, the Vikings acknowledged the transaction and also announced that they would be releasing receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette.

As a result of the trade, Jalen Reagor’s troubled tenure in Philadelphia has come to an end, and he will now have the opportunity to begin over with a club that is also embarking on a new era.

His stay in the city known as the “City of Brotherly Love” was everything but happy for Reagor. The Eagles’ first-round choice in 2020 was brought in with the expectation that he would be the unrivaled best receiver for the team for the foreseeable future, but he never even came close to realizing that ambition. Instead, Reagor, who was selected with the 21st overall choice in 2020, had a rough rookie season. He caught only 31 of 54 targets over the course of 11 games, and he was out for five games with a ruptured ligament in his thumb.

Jalen Reagor had the year 2021 accessible to him so that he could improve his image and get his life back on track. The Eagles then picked DeVonta Smith, who went on to win the Heisman Trophy and become the No. 1 receiver for Philadelphia. This was the role that Philadelphia had anticipated Reagor would play. Once again, Reagor struggled when the playoffs rolled around in 2021. He muffed two punts and lost one of them in a game against the Buccaneers in the wild-card round.

Given all of this, it is safe to assume that Reagor is not under very much pressure in Minnesota. Reagor will not have to bear the crushing weight of first-round expectations since he will be able to acclimatize at his own speed and will have the opportunity to perhaps exploit when chances present themselves.

In the end, the Eagles acknowledge that they attempted to sign Reagor but were unsuccessful. However, neither side is suffering a significant amount as a result of it.
