‘General Hospital’ actor Sonya Eddy passes away at age 55

Star of “General Hospital” Sonya Eddy has passed away. She was 55.

“Last night, my friend @sonyaeddy passed away. Another creative angel has left the planet, Spencer wrote. “She will be miss by her hordes of @generalhospitalabc followers. Her family ones, friends, and supporters are in my prayers and thoughts a death. She passed away on Monday, according to the actor’s agent.

On Spencer’s post, Tika Sumpter, Cynthia Bailey, Eric Stonestreet, Rick Gonzalez, Jaimie Alexander, and Ant Anstead all posted encouraging comments. There is no information about the cause of death.

Executive producer of “General Hospital,” Frank Valentini, also posted his condolences on Twitter.

“I am devastating by the passing of the amazing @TheRealSonyaEd. I genuinely cherished her as a friend in addition to an actress, he tweeted. The heart of the nurse’s station will now have a little less light, but the show & our set will continue to feature her vitality and light.

On behalf of all of the #GH film’s cast and crew, we express our sincere condolences to her relatives, friends, & fans,” read a subsequent tweet. She is greatly missed.

The native of Concord, California, studied theatre and dance at the University of California, Davis. She had a bachelor’s degree and was a certified vocational nurse. In “Ruby Dee’s Zora, Is My Name!” Eddy had her theatrical acting debut. She then appeared in productions of “Comedy of Errors,” “The Crucible,” “Into the Woods,” and “South Pacific,” among others.

On “General Hospital,” Eddy was best recognise for playing Epiphany Johnson. In the soap opera, she appeared from March 2006 to November 2020. ER, The Drew Carey Show, Glee, Fresh Off the Boat, Seinfeld, and A Black Lady Comedy Series were a few of her other famous TV appearances. The actor also starred in movies like “Coach Carter,” “Barbershop,” and “Seven Pounds.”
