The “Back to the Future” actor, Michael J. Fox,  61, talked openly about his fight with the illness and the injuries he has sustained as a result of losing his balance.

According to Michael J. Fox, his Parkinson’s disease has caused him to sustain several wounds.

 In an interview with Variety this week, the actor said that Parkinson’s illness, which he was initially diagnosed with in 1991 at age 29, has caused Michael J. Fox to experience a lot of ailments.

Based to the National Institutes of Health, the neurological condition develops with time and results in unintentional stiffness, shakiness, and coordination problems.

“This shoulder was replacing after I broke it. This elbow is broken. My hand was breaking. I almost lost this finger because of an infection. I cut my face. Fox told Variety, “I smashed this homers.

In addition to dealing with his Parkinson’s symptoms, Fox said it has been challenging to manage his condition throughout the years. He has also experienced significant losses in his personal life and has struggled with his mental health.

In the interview, he remarked, “I have aides around me quite a bit of the time in case I fall, and that loss of privacy is hard to deal with. “I lost independence, my dog, my health, my family, and my dog. Although I’m not equipp to diagnose myself, all the symptoms of depression were there, so I hesitate to use the label.

The “Family Ties” star acknowledge that while it hasn’t always been simple, he has found solace in his family’s encouragement as they have been supporting him through his medical challenges.

The actor said, “I just like the tiny math puzzles of life. I enjoy getting up in the morning, solving those puzzles, and spending time with my family.

He has also reached a stage where he is willing to accept any physical effects the crippling illness may have on him.

My issue is that I trip and fall. I trip over objects, tumble to the ground, and damage things. And having this is part of that,” Fox remarks. “However, I’m hoping and expecting not to break as many bones tomorrow. So, to say that is optimistic.

In a recent interview with CBS “Sunday Morning,” Fox also discussing his experiences and ponder in how long Parkinson’s has been a part of his life.

Not many of us have had this sickness for 30 years, he added, adding that it has been more than 30 years. “Having Parkinson’s is awful.”

The National Institutes of Health estimates that 500,000 Americans have Parkinson’s disease, but other experts believe that number could be as high as one million due to the disease’s propensity for going unnoticed.

Due to difficulties with learning lines and acting as a result of the disease, Fox retired from acting in 2020. However, he will soon be in the documentary “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie,” which explores his successful career, sobriety journey, battle with Parkinson’s, and his tenacious spirit to continue living on his own terms despite the disease’s incapacitating symptoms.
