Nerds, this is an official Code Red alert. Stranger Things Season 4 is coming soon, and it’s shaping up to be larger and bolder than ever before. That’s right: Season 4 will be nearly twice as long as Season 3, with two volumes in the works. Volume I will be released on May 27, followed by Volume II on July 1.

Stranger Things will conclude with its fifth season, and Matt and Ross Duffer stated in a message to fans that Season 4 will be the “beginning of the end.”

In the universe of Stranger Things, there are still many more intriguing stories to tell; new secrets, new adventures, and new heroes who aren’t expecting,” the Duffer brothers wrote in their letter. “But first, we hope you’ll bear with us as we wrap up this storey of a strong girl named Eleven and her brave friends, a broken police chief and a furious mother, a small town called Hawkins, and an alternate world known only as the Upside Down. We appreciate your patience and support, as always.”

 

In the aftermath of the Battle of Starcourt, when we last left our Demogorgon-fighting, Mind Flayer–assassinating team, they were all heading in various places. Season 4, Volume I follows up six months later, with the main ensemble dispersed throughout the globe in four distinct — but equally mysterious — places. Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Will (Noah Schnapp), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), and Dustin (Millie Bobby Brown) are the main characters (Gaten Matarazzo),and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) must figure out how to put an end to the Upside Down once and for all while navigating the highs and lows of high school and battling the threat of a terrifying new supernatural force.
