On Monday, Kentucky Keion Brooks Jr. announced his intention to enter the NBA draft, although he stated he would keep his college eligibility. If Brooks does not feel comfortable with what he hears during the draft process, he has the option of returning to school.

Brooks special announcement

Brooks said in his announcement, “First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me and putting me in this position.” “Second, I’d like to express my gratitude to all of my teammates and coaches for assisting me in my preparation and encouraging me to be the greatest player I can be. With that said, I am excited about the next phase and will enter my name into the NBA Draft while remaining eligible for college.”

Julian Edlow of DraftKings joins the Sweat to talk about his favorite bets and choice for the NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship Game in 2022. As a junior, Brooks averaged 10.8 points per game and shot a career-high 49.1% from the field. He had 23 thefts and 21 blocked shots while averaging 4.4 rebounds per game. Brooks’ decision to find out where his NBA stock ranks were praised by Wildcats coach John Calipari.

Calipari said in a statement

“The restrictions in place for these young men to make decisions are there for a purpose, and Keion is putting them to good use,” Calipari said in a statement. “During his time here, he has made significant progress and has improved year after year. His maturity as a player and as a man will enable him to navigate this process and make the best option possible for his future. He and his family are aware that any decision they make will have my complete support.”

Brooks has played in 80 games (42 starts) for Kentucky, averaging 8.3 points and 4.4 rebounds. While shooting 47.4% overall, he only made 23.4 percent of his 3-point tries (18 of 77).

When second-seeded Kentucky was defeated 85-79 by No. 15 seed Saint Peter’s in the NCAA Tournament first round last month, Brooks had only eight points on 2-of-7 shooting.
