John Wayne Gacy, a convicted serial murderer who dressed up as a clown and performed at events including children’s birthday parties, was well-known. One of America’s most notorious serial murderers is John Wayne Gacy. John Wayne Gacy is one of America’s most notorious serial murderers, with an estimated 33 young men and boys killed and molested. Gacy worked as a contractor and aspirant politician, but he is most known for dressing up as a clown and performing at events and children’s parties. He’d scout for vulnerable people before enticing them to his house and putting them into a pair of handcuffs with a magic act. Some of his victims were buried in his Illinois home’s crawl area, while others were hidden in the Des Plaines River. Unfortunately, the identities of five of John Wayne Gacy’s victims remain unknown. Gacy was convicted and condemned to die by lethal injection in 1980. During his stay on death row, he began painting, and several of his works, including his famed self-portrait in a clown outfit, were recently purchased by Ghost Adventures host Zak Bagans for a 2020 exhibition.

On May 10, 1994, at the Stateville Correctional Center in Illinois, Gacy was lethally executed for his crimes. John Wayne Gacy was apprehended in a number of different ways. After being linked to some of the missing people, Gacy was put under surveillance.

Robert Piest, a fifteen-year-old boy, went missing after telling his mother he was going to Gacy to look for contractor work. Gacy’s house was searched after she reported this to the police. During the search, Gacy was put under police monitoring when a receipt was discovered that led to Piest being on the premises.

He was detected with marijuana and detained while under this monitoring. After the second search of his house revealed bones in the crawl area, Gacy confessed to his crimes.

Unheard recorded talks between John Wayne Gacy and his defense team will be made public in the Netflix documentary.

“Someone from the original legal team came out and indicated that these videos were accessible but that they want anonymity,” filmmaker Joe Berlinger told Entertainment Weekly about how they acquired access to the tapes.

The film also features a never-before-seen video of cops digging the crawl area. “Their excavation video has never been seen before, and that is absolutely awful stuff,” Berlinger said to Entertainment Weekly. We discussed how much of the excavation film should be included, but we decided that it was necessary to show enough of it to convey the horror of what was happening.”
