One of the most dreaded times of the year is springtime. Why? Allergies! Probably, getting out of bed with a lot of tissues in your hand makes it hard to feel good. Coffee can’t help with that. Even though you might get spring allergies, there are ways to keep them from getting worse, so you can enjoy the season without having to run to the bathroom every ten minutes and sneeze. You can treat spring allergies this year and make the most of your time outside by following these steps:

Use a neti pot to drink water

A neti pot sounds weird, but they are a good way to get rid of a lot of the stuff that’s in your nose and help with allergies. If you don’t know what a “neti pot” is, it looks like a small teapot and is used for nasal irrigation, which means squirting water up to your nose. People in India have been using them for a long time, and they’re very easy to use.

Get an air cleaner

If you have dust, pollen, pet dander, and more in your home, an air purifier is a great way to get rid of them. The best air purifiers can get rid of as many as 99 percent of the airborne particles that make you sick. Before you buy an air purifier for allergies in the spring, make sure you talk to your doctor first. They don’t always work or work well for everyone. You might not be able to use an air purifier if you have asthma or another respiratory condition, because they can make the air cleaner.

 

Keep the windows closed

Nighttime is the best time for people who have hay fever or other allergies in the spring to close their windows. Moreover, if you do this, you won’t have to sneeze as much. If you have a window air conditioner in your bedroom, you should open it up to let air in. You don’t want to get too cold! Make blankets to cover your windows at night if it isn’t possible to close all the windows. There’s a good chance that pollen will get into your room even though these will help keep some of it out, but they’ll still let in some fresh air.

Wash your bedsheets often

Dust mites can live in bedsheets and pillows, so it’s important to wash them often to keep them away from your body. There aren’t any dust mites that bite or sting. They consequently release allergens into the air through their feces and dead skin cells. Regularly washing your sheets will keep these allergens from building up, which will help ease your symptoms during the spring allergy season. If you have a lot of allergies, you should wash your pillows at least once a month to keep them clean.
