Amazon advances NFL rights deal to 2022

Amazon extends its rights deal with the National Football League until 2022. The NFL announced that starting in 2019, Thursday Night Football will be shown exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

The company is moving quickly to finalize an agreement to broadcast Thursday Night Football NFL games:

Amazon is moving quickly to finalize an agreement to broadcast NFL games. In theory, the streaming platform held the exclusive rights to Thursday Night Football beginning with the season. This will begin in 2023; nevertheless, it will finally show the games of the American football league one year sooner.

Amazon Prime will begin broadcasting its 15-game Thursday night package beginning in the fall of 2022 after the company brought forward its exclusive arrangement with the National Football League (NFL). There is an addition of one additional season to the league’s 10-year deal.

After taking over the broadcasting rights to that package in 2018,  you will see the Thursday Night Football by Fox for the final time during this season. It will however be its final season overall. Because of this choice, it will be possible to save 660 million dollars. Fox will somehow continue to produce the package of Sunday afternoon games, with the focus on the game of the week. It is one of the most watched games on North American television each week for the last twelve seasons. As part of the recent contracts signed for the audiovisual rights of the competition, Fox will continue to produce the package of Sunday afternoon games.

A record number of long-term television rights deals for a combined record-breaking $110 billion were struck by the National Football League (NFL) with Amazon, CBS, ESPN/ABC, FOX, and NBC a month ago. Regarding Amazon, I have defended my ownership of the rights to the widely watched Thursday Night Football program.
