Blake Shelton and Kane Brown Performs a Duet on ‘The Voice’

On the season finale of NBC’s The Voice on Tuesday night, Kane Brown and Blake Shelton gave a riveting duet performance, complete with fire and pyrotechnics, of their song “Different Man,” which they had just released live (Dec. 13).

Brown’s 2022 album’s lead single, “Different Man,” with lyrics that every musician pursuing a career in music will be all too familiar with: “What if I wasn’t meant to work the line; what if I was made for the stage; what if I was made for the lights.”

The title tune from Kane Brown’s smash album Different Man was performed live by Blake Shelton and Brown on December 13 as part of The Voice Season 22 finale.

Brown earlier told Billboard that the reason she invited Shelton onto the track was because she was riding to the gym because that is where she really had time to consider and listen.

Blake was the first artist that sprang to mind when I wanted to add one more feature to the record.

I thought the song made sense because it made me think of Blake Shelton in the “God’s Country” vein.

Since The Voice’s debut in 2011, Shelton has been a trainer on the show. In 2020, Shelton recruited Brown to serve as a consultant for Team Blake. Brown frequently performs Shelton’s “Ol’ Red” as a cover song during his live performances.

Kane Brown previously remarked that joining Team Blake as an advisor was a “full circle” experience for him.

Brown previously told Parade, “I always wanted to be on The Voice & try out for Blake. “I believe I stated that on the program. I’ve always wanted to approach Blake, sing “Ol’ Red,” and try to convince him to turn round. And then, having the opportunity to serve as his advisor was like coming full circle.

OneRepublic, Breland, Maluma, and Adam Lambert also gave performances during The Voice’s season 22 finale. Bryce Leatherwood, a country singer who is a member of Team Blake, won the competition, giving Team Blake its eighth victory of the season.

Shelton recently declared he would leave The Voice at the end of the following season.
