Baz Luhrmann, an Australian director, is behind the camera for the biopic.

But since accepting the part, Butler has spoken up about the counsel he got from DiCaprio.

Butler stated that DiCaprio gave him the guidance while they were co-stars in the Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s views about Baz Luhrmann

According to him, Baz would continually throw you off balance. Indeed, he will bring things out of you that you didn’t know you had inside of you, Leo told him, according to EW.

That was exactly my experience, too.

Butler acknowledged that there were some days when he had the thought, “Baz, why don’t we just do what we prepared?”

Although the actor acknowledged that he “realized [the filmmaker] would push [him] straight to the limit of what [he] was capable of,”

“In a way, you capture lightning in a bottle; if you had just done the thing that you had planned, it could have been more stale,” he thought.

Baz puts so much effort into his preparation

“You must understand music theory in order to play jazz,” Butler continued. Moreover, you must be completely familiar with the scales on the guitar, but ultimately, you are improvising. You have all this information and experience, which you are applying to the present moment. You may use it to play off of whatever is in front of you. Baz is that way because he puts so much effort into his preparation.

“I’ll spend a year planning a scene, and then, the day before we shoot, the whole thing will alter,” the actor said.

In the coming months, the new bet by director Baz Luhrmann based on the life of Elvis Presley will hit theaters. The Elvis biopic features performances by Tom Hanks and Austin Butler, who had the difficult task of putting himself in the shoes of the king of rock and roll.

The truth is that Luhrman found something in Butler. He found what none of the other performers he had considered for the role had. His charisma and talent, and a selfless recommendation from Denzel Washington, made the Australian director interested in the young performer.

The truth is that the choice seems to have been worth it, since, its first exhibitions. It included the Cannes Film Festival, the film received great praise. It was even applauded in the European contest, making it clear that it is a great bet.

When we think of a musical biopic many ideas come to mind. However, coming up with something like what Luhrmann has in mind is much more complex. As could be seen in the advances of Elvis, the visual commitment, the tone, and the rhythm of the film are impressive. Add to that Butler’s performance that had to live up to the director’s frenetic vision.

Austin arrived fairly prepared for the shoot

Recently, the actor revealed that it was not easy at all to step into the shoes of Elvis. Further, it was difficult to let alone perform under Luhrmann’s extravagant directives. However, Austin arrived fairly prepared for the shoot thanks to the fact that he had the advice of one of the best actors in Hollywood.

“It’s scary. But I’ve said this before, I talked to Leo [DiCaprio] beforehand and he said, ‘Baz is going to keep you off-balance, but he’s going to bring things out of you that you never knew you had inside of you.'” that’s exactly what it was. He pushed me right to the edge of what I thought was possible. And I always knew if I fell, he’d catch me. That I was safe,” Butler said in an interview with Jake’s Take.

Without a doubt, Leonardo DiCaprio knew what he was talking about since he collaborated twice with the Australian director. The first was in 1996, early in his career, with Romeo + Juliet, in which he co-starred with Claire Danes. The second was in 2013, when he played Jay Gatsby in the adaptation of The Great Gatsby, based on the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Nor should we forget that DiCaprio and Butler shared the screen in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) by Quentin Tarantino.

There is no doubt that DiCaprio was the right person to advise Butler on what to expect in his work with the director. Everything seems to indicate that the actor’s experience with Luhrmann was a good one, especially when most critics point out that Butler’s performance is masterful.
