Baltimore Ravens LB Jaylon Ferguson Dies at 26
In a statement released Wednesday, the Ravens said Ferguson died Tuesday night at the age of 26. It is not known at this point how he died.
Jaylon entered the NFL as the 85th selection in the 2019 draft, and over the next three years appeared in 39 combined regular season and playoff games for the Ravens. He was a member of Baltimore’s outside linebacker rotation as well as a member of the three-unit special team.

He made 38 appearances for the Ravens over the next three seasons, producing 62 tackles and 4.5 total sacks. Known as the “Sack Daddy” coming out of Louisiana Tech, Jaylon holds the FBS record for career sacks with 45. In three NFL seasons, he totaled 67 tackles and 4.5 sacks.
Raven mourns at his death:
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jaylon Ferguson,” the Ravens said in their official statement Wednesday. “He was a kind and respectful young man with a big smile and an infectious personality.
“We express our sincere condolences to Jaylon’s family and friends as we mourn a life lost far too soon.
Ferguson was in attendance for the Ravens’ mandatory mini-camp at the team’s Owings Mills facility in Maryland last week.
Confirming his passing, Ferguson’s agent Safarrah Lawson said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Baltimore Ravens LB Jaylon Ferguson. The family asks for your prayers and privacy during this difficult time.
Jaylon is the third young NFL player to die in recent months.
Arizona Cardinals cornerback Jeff Gladney was killed in a car accident in Dallas last month at the age of 25, while in April Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins, 24, died after being hit by a truck on a South Florida highway.
“The last person I spoke to left the facility,” Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen said. tweeted. “I spent almost every day in the sauna together trying to see who was gone the longest. Moreover, I said it was our turn this year man. I miss you, my brother.”
Jaylon’s family:
Ferguson had three children, two daughters, and a son, all of whom are under 5 years old.
“He was a wonderful young man full of love and life,” Lawson said in a statement. “He will be remembered not only as a football player, but also as a great father, son, brother, and friend. The family asks you to continue to pray.”\
