Inferiority Complex
What does it mean?

Basically, inferiority complex is an emotion. It is a feeling that makes a person to think that he is not good enough. It makes a person to think that he is useless, he can’t do anything in life, he is unable to please others. Takes away the feeling of self-love. Also it takes away all the positivity of life for that person suffering from it.
Reasons for Development:
1. Bad Parenting

Child’s basic learning starts from home. Parents are responsible for building a child’s personality. They are responsible for the child’s mindset. Sadly, some parents take their children emotions for granted. We always have heard ‘be good to your parents’, ‘Don’t refuse your parents’, ‘don’ t speak louder in front of your parents’, ‘respect your parents’ but have you ever thought, what are we doing to our kid’s self-respect? Have you ever noticed while talking about kids responsibilities, has anybody highlighted parents responsibilities?
Outcome:
Humiliating your kids all the time, makes them feel uncomfortable, worthless and ultimately they suffer from inferiority complex issues. Another reason for the development of inferiority complex through bad parenting is the fact that some parents give priviledge to one child and ignore the other one. This is surely another possibility that the child feels himself lonely and develops feeling of being inferior than other siblings. Not giving equal love and attention to all children, develops inferiority complex in the one who is being ignored.

These kinds of children lack self-confidence and might show poor performance in their academic results. but why are they being humiliate over bad results? its totally not their fault, the fault might be yours in treating them different from your other children.
2. Friends
Another reason for the development of inferiority complex is the company in which you are spending your time in the school, probably your class mates. Sometimes dominant behavior of one of your group mates, make others to feel inferior. The child starts to think himself as good for nothing. He starts to think irrationally. He develops thoughts like ‘I can’t make my life decision on my own.’ ‘I can’t excel without help.’

3. Society
Third reason that fuels inferiority complex is our so called, society. Society set norms that are to be obeyed by all others and the one who are not able to obey them, they are treated inferior. A person being on high position, humiliates the lower ones thus developing feelings of inferiority in them.

4. Bad experiences
Fourth reason of its development is having bad experience once that makes a person to think negative about his future. Considers his first mistake to be repeated till death. Thinks that he is unable to do anything good in the future because of his previous bad experience. He doesn’t even want to try because he prefer giving up.
5. Television:
In Pakistan, our rising trend of MORNING SHOWS promoting inferiority complex at a high rate. How do these morning shows intend to provoke? They provoke people to buy expensive clothes because they can’t look gorgeous without them and the people, who can’t afford it, feels depressive that they can’t buy them. This is how the Morning shows are spoiling our minds. We have promoted brands so much that we feel a bit shame when wearing clothes other than brands. That’s probably the saddest image of our society.
6. Social media:
Another trend that is at its high rate is in the social media. It is the craze of having more likes on your picture than the other one. In this race, the person having low likes, tend to think himself as not good enough. This ultimately leads to inferiority complex.

Conclusion
No matter intentionally or unintentionally we might be the reason of someone’s inferiority complex as a parent or as a friend. Be sure not to humiliate someone in front of others. There are many other ways to tell a person his mistake instead of pointing in front of so many people. Understanding others might help them in coping up with their inferiority feelings.
