Jennifer Lawrence Faces a Criticism for her False Claim

After making the incorrect claim that she was the first woman to play the lead in an action film, Jennifer Lawrence is receiving criticism. Lawrence made the remarks during an almost 45-minute sit-down interview with fellow actress & producer Viola Davis, which Variety published.

Jennifer Lawrence faces criticism for making a false claim that she is the first female action movie star.

During the interview, the two women talked about acting, unfair business practices, and parenthood, among other things.

Regarding the importance of her portrayal of Katniss Everdeen. the main character of “The Hunger Games,” Lawrence, 32, remarked in the discussion:

 “I remember when I was filming ‘Hunger Games. ‘ nobody had ever placing a woman in the lead of an action movie because it wouldn’t work. since we were telling that while boys cannot associate with a female protagonist, both girls and boys may relate with a male lead.

Lawrence continues, “I just get so exciting every single time a movie comes out that just rips through every single one of those assumptions. Also exposes that it is simply a fiction to keep particular people out of the cinema.”

In response to Lawrence’s remarks, a number of other women have played lead roles in action movies. Which include Sigourney Weaver in the “Alien” films, Angelina Jolie in “Salt” and “Tomb Raider.” Uma Thurman in “Kill Bill: Volume 1” as well as “Kill Bill.  Volume 2,” and Michelle Yeoh in several movies.  including “Supercop,” “Magnificent Warriors,” and “Yes, Madam!”

After numerous Twitter users pointed out the inaccuracies of Lawrence’s statement. Variety appeared to remove a statement it had posted supporting her remarks.

Others claimed that despite the fact that Lawrence’s remark was technically inaccurate. It nonetheless alluded to a bigger problem of institutional sexism in Hollywood.

Franklin Leonard, a producer and the brainchild behind “The Black List.” the community for writers in the film and television industries. tweeted that the claim that Jennifer Lawrence was the first woman to star in an adventure film was inaccurate. Hollywood had and still does have a real bias towards female-driven action films. As a result of this absurd idea of who corresponds with whom.

 NBC News has contacted Lawrence’s agent for comment.

Following the recent releases of two movies in which they both have leading roles, Davis and Lawrence have a conversation. Davis plays the commander.
