Julio Jones bouncing back
Julio Jones is looking to bounce back from a disappointing season with the Tennessee Titans by teaming up with the seven-time Pro Bowler, who provides soon-to-be 45-year-old Tom Brady another weapon in Tampa, Florida.
Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Tyler Johnson, Scotty Miller, and Breshad Perriman are all returning to the Buccaneers’ receiving corps, which also includes newcomers Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller. Additionally, the Buccaneers added Russell Gage, who, like Jones, is a former Falcon. Godwin’s damaged anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) required him to have surgery over the summer. The Buccaneers made the decision not to place him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to begin training camp; but, a source informed ESPN that the team would be very careful with him before allowing him to exercise.
In the aftermath of Rob Gronkowski’s decision to hang up his cleats, Tampa Bay made another effort to bolster its tight end position by signing veteran Kyle Rudolph last week. Just one season after receiving him in a trade from the Falcons, Jones was let loose by the Titans in the month of March.
Tennessee trade

Last season, Tennessee traded away two draft selections in order to acquire him in the hopes that he would give the Titans’ passing offense the much-needed balance it lacked. However, due to injuries, he was only able to participate in ten games, and he set a career low with 31 catches, 434 yards, and only one touchdown reception. It was the second season in a row that Jones’ playing time was cut short due to injuries. He participated in a total of nine games for the Falcons in the year 2020.
In 2011, the Atlanta Falcons selected Jones in the sixth round of the NFL. Prior to the selection, the Falcons traded numerous draft choices to the Cleveland Browns so that they could grab the Alabama star. In order to move up in the draft and choose Jones, Atlanta gave up one of its first-round selections in 2011 (No. 26), one of its second-round picks, two of its fourth-round picks, and its first-round pick for 2012.
Julio Jones, who is 33 years old, is the all-time leader in receptions for the Falcons with 848, and he is second all-time behind Roddy White in touchdown receptions (63). The 91.9 receiving yards that he averages every game is the greatest per-game average in the history of the NFL.
Additionally, since 2014, he has led the NFL in receiving yards, and throughout the same time period, Evans has led the NFL in touchdown receptions with 75. Both of them are now members of the same squad.
Additionally, on Tuesday, the Buccaneers released tight end, Codey McElroy, citing an injury as the reason. After suffering from the foot problem throughout the summer, ESPN has been informed by a source that McElroy will have foot surgery this week.
