Kirstie Alley: Star of ‘Cheers’ Passes Away at the Age of 71

The NBC television show “Cheers” brought Kirstie Alley to national attention as Rebecca Howe. Kirstie Alley passed away on Monday from cancer. She was a two-time Emmy winner. She was 71 years old.

Her official social media account released an official statement from her children, which served as confirmation of Alley’s passing.
To all of our friends, near and far, wherever in the world… We regret to notify you that our amazing, courageous, and belove mother has died recently following a struggle with cancer, which was just recently finding. She fought valiantly while encircled by her closest friends and family, leaving us with little doubt about her unending love of life and whatever challenges lie ahead. She was a legendary actress, but she was an even better mother and grandma.
The letter reads, “We are appreciative for the care provided by the amazing staff of medical professionals there at Moffitt Cancer Center. “Our mother’s zeal and love for life, her offspring, grandchildren, and numerous animals, in addition to her unending joy of creation, were unmatch and left us encourage to live our lives to the fullest like she did. Please respect our anonymity at this trying time as we appreciate your love and prayers.
1951 saw the birth of Kirstie Louise Alley in Wichita, Kansas. She then relocated to Los Angeles, where she worked as an interior decorator.
Alley already belonged to the Mormon Church and used its linked Narconon program to get help for a cocaine addiction, which she attributed with keeping her sober. She started her cinematic career in 1982 with “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.” and soon after that she starred in “Blind Date” and the 1985 miniseries “North and South.” She appeared in Carl Reiner’s popular comedy “Summer School” two years later opposite Mark Harmon.
In that year, Alley took Shelley Long’s spot on NBC’s “Cheers,” one of the most popular comedies on television.
She gave a notoriously raunchy statement in 1991 when she accepted the lead actress Emmy award for the part. Thanking her husband, actor Parker Stevenson: I want to express my gratitude to Parker, my husband. Who has been giving me a big one every past eight years. She won her second Emmy for the television movie “David’s Mother” from 1994, in which she portrayed the mother of an autistic adolescent.
NBC’s “Veronica’s Closet” (1997–2000), Showtime’s metacomedy “Fat Actress.” Or costarring alongside John Travolta there in critically acclaimed “Look Who’s Talking” trilogy, which began in 1989, were among Alley’s other career highlights.
Following her departure from Jenny Craig, Alley founded her own business. Organic Liaisons, and acted as a spokesman for the Jenny Craig weight loss program. After her company was acquire, she later went back to Jenny Craig. Alley started using social media actively a few years ago, occasionally getting into arguments.
She consistently put in consistent work: in 2011. Alley finish second on “Dancing With the Stars.” in 2013, she had the self-title TV Land television show “Kirstie,” which was cancel after one season. In 2016, she was on Tv series of “Scream Queens.” and previously this year, she made an appearance on Season 7 of “The Masked Singer” as Baby Mammoth.
William True Stevenson, Lillie Price Stevenson, her son, and a grandchild are her surviving children.
