Love Wins All: A Melancholic & Beautiful Piece of Art
Kpop fans, were we ready for this masterpiece that was just dropped by IU? The cinematography, the story, the music, the lyrics, the acting. Just wow. I can’t even finish admiring each and every detail in the song and it has taken me over. The answer to the previous question is obviously “no.” We were definitely not prepared for it. Plus, having V from BTS partake in the MV shooting for “ Love wins all ”, and having a major role is beyond amazing.

LOVE WINS ALL. A MELANCHOLY YET BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ART. UNDERSTANDING THE MV
ARMY’s are well familiar with his acting skills from Hwarang and some other pieces. This time too, he took the stage with his heart-wrenching realistic acting. My friend even teared up, like imagine the impact of a single Music Video. I’ve been seeing numeros comments saying that “Love wins all” should be adapted into a whole Kdrama. Now that’s a thought.
WHO IS IU?

This part is for all those who don’t know IU and are only here because of V. IU, whose real name is Lee Ji-eun, is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actress who’s pretty much a superstar in the Kpop world. She’s like a breath of fresh air in the industry. She has incredible talent, charming personality, and a genuine presence. Aside from her talents, IU is also known for her down-to-earth personality. She’s humble, kind-hearted, and always grateful for her fans’ support. She’s not afraid to show her goofy side either – just check out her social media accounts for some hilarious behind-the-scenes moments.
IU AND HER MUSIC CAREER

Let’s talk about her music. Iu debuted on 18th September, 2008 with her debut single “Lost Child.” She was given the title of “Nation’s Younger sister” by the K-Netizens because of her cute looks and charm. IU’s voice is like a warm hug for your ears – it’s smooth, soulful, and just downright beautiful. She’s known for her versatility, too. Whether she’s belting out powerful ballads or grooving to catchy pop tunes, she nails it every time. Seriously, her songs have this magical ability to get stuck in your head for days (not complaining though!).
One of the coolest things about IU is that she’s not just a singer – she’s also a brilliant songwriter. She pours her heart and soul into her music, and you can really feel the emotion in every lyric. Plus, she’s not afraid to tackle important topics in her songs, like love, heartbreak, and social issues. It’s no wonder her music resonates with so many people around the world.
IU AS AN ACTOR

But IU isn’t just about music – she’s also a talented actress. She’s starred in some seriously popular K-dramas, like “My Mister” and “Hotel Del Luna,” where she’s shown off her acting chops and won over audiences with her captivating performances. She’s got this natural charm on screen that’s just impossible to resist.
V OF BTS

Kim Taehyung – widely known by his stage name V – is a singer and songwriter from the band BTS. (Of course, you know this) His voice is like liquid gold, seriously. Smooth, soulful, with a hint of raspiness that just hits you right in the feels. Whether he’s hitting those high notes or adding his signature deep tones to a track, V’s vocals are always on point. And don’t even get me started on his stage presence – the man’s a natural performer. He’s got this magnetic energy that draws you in, and once you’re hooked, there’s no turning back. He’s also got some serious skills as a dancer. He’s known for his smooth moves and effortless swagger on stage. Whether he’s busting out some killer choreography with BTS or freestyling like a pro, V always brings his A-game.
Let’s not forget about his visuals – I mean, have you seen this guy? With his striking features and killer fashion sense, he’s basically a walking work of art. But what really sets V apart is his personality. He’s got this playful, mischievous side that’s impossible not to love. Whether he’s cracking jokes, goofing off with his bandmates, or showering fans with love, V’s charm knows no bounds.
V’S ACTING CAREER

Outside of music, V’s also made a name for himself as an actor. Talk about multi-talented! He debuted as an actor back in 2017. He was given the role of “Ha-sung” in the drama Hwarang. Despite “Hwarang” being his first major acting role, V showcased a natural talent for emoting and conveying complex emotions. His chemistry with the other cast members, as well as his ability to bring out both the comedic and dramatic aspects of his character, contributed to the success of the drama.
“LOVE WINS ALL” MV

The “Love wins all” MV has won the hearts of many fans all around the world. It starts off with two people, namely IU and V, running away from what seems to be a big white cube. You see that IU talks to V using hand gestures. It signals that IU is inherently foolish. Furthermore, foolish in a way that she cannot talk. Whereas, V is blind from one eye which is quite visible in the “Love wins all” MV by his grey eye. As they walk around in search for a place to hide, V finds a camera. When he focuses the camera on IU, all her wounds and scratches seem to disappear. When they sit down on a table in a restaurant, pretending to eat something, the camera shows IU eating macaroon in a grand bustling and fully lit restaurant.

The camera shows them a world where they weren’t hunted and treated well while the people with covered faces symbolize their non-existence. “Love wins all” starts with some heartfelt lyrics about the two running away from the world and asking for answers. What mistake did they commit for them to be cast away and for them to have no other option but to run away to the end of the world. As if raising her voice against the stigmatization of the disabled people.
Music Video:
The music video for “Love wins all” is a heartfelt piece where you can truly see the emotions exuding from both the song and the acting. How the two got into a wedding attire and took pictures. For a few minutes, they forgot about the horror they were escaping from. When confronted by the cube, IU grabbed a stick to protect V but V took it from her as if to show her that he can protect her. However, in the end, it was IU who protected V by covering his functional eye when faced with death. And so, both of them died together.
V had no part in the song “Love wins all” to sing nor compose. He was only in the MV as an actor. What is even more interesting is that there are more details and thought put into the MV. The characters that IU and V played in the “Love wins all” MV have names. IU played the role of Jihye, and V played the role for Taejun. This is taken from V’s Instagram post where he wrote it in the caption. The picture was of IU and V in the MV captioned “Tae-jun, Jihye, be happy.” As if telling them to live their next life happily. Now, doesn’t that break your heart even more?
CONTROVERSY BEHIND LOVE WINS ALL
If you had caught the release of the trailer of the “Love wins all” MV it was first termed as “Love wins”. This created a great controversy among the LGBTQ+ community. Why? Because the slogan “Love wins” is used by the LGBTQ+ community for the demand of their rights. Seeing that the song nor the MV had anything related to the LGBTQ+ community, it sparked a flame among them. They called out the entertainment company and the artist to change the name. This is how the name of the song came to be “Love wins all.”
