Michelle Branch’s Domestic Assault Arrest
Michelle Branch was arrested in Tennessee on charges of domestic violence
Thursday, August 11, Nashville police arrested Michelle Branch after being called to the home. She shares with her husband, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, to look into a possible domestic dispute. Billboard got a copy of Branch’s arrest report. It says she was arrested for misdemeanor domestic assault and released on a $1,000 bond.

The incident seems to have happened right before the singer announced she was splitting up with Carney, 42 because she thought he had been cheating on her.
Michelle and Carney got married in 2019:
In 2019, Michelle Branch and Carney got married. Branch told TMZ about the significant breakup in a statement. She says, “I’m completely heartbroken doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and my family. I’ve had everything ripped out from under me, and now I have to figure out how to move on. Because my children are so young, I ask that you give me space and be kind”.
The affidavit said, “the singer said that she and her husband are having problems in their marriage and have been fighting”. “The fight started somewhere else and kept going when they got home. The argument got worse, and Michelle said she had hit Patrick once or twice in the face.
Michelle took to Twitter before she told Carney that they were breaking up to say that she thought he was cheating on her. The two musicians were married and lived in Nashville with their two children.
Early in the 2000s, “The Spirit Room” and “Hotel Paper,” two of Michelle’s albums, helped her become known as a singer-songwriter. The song “Everywhere,” which was her first big hit, turned 20 this year. It was on her first album. Branch won a Grammy Award for her duet with Santana in 2022 called “The Game of Love”. The song was a pop collaboration with vocals.
Authorities however say that Michelle Branch, a singer, and songwriter, hit her husband Patrick Carney, the drummer for The Black Keys, on Thursday. Branch was arrested in Tennessee.
A probable cause affidavit from Davidson County says that Branch, who is 39 years old, was arrested for domestic assault. In the affidavit, Carney was said to be the victim.
Fourth studio album by Michelle:
Michelle Branch is consequently getting ready to put out her fourth studio album, “The Trouble with Fever”. It will come out on September 16. Moreover, the musician is going on a fall tour that will stop at Webster Hall in New York City.
TMZ said that court documents show that the singer admitted to slapping Carney “one or two times” in the face. Branch was taken into custody. However, she was reportedly let go quickly because she is still nursing the couple’s, 6-month-old baby. Carney reportedly didn’t have any injuries that could be seen.
Billboard has asked Michelle and Carney’s spokespeople for more information, but they haven’t responded yet.
Branch said in a now-deleted tweet that Carney had cheated on her. In a statement to People, she said, “To say I’m significantly devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and my family. I’ve however had everything ripped out from under me, and now I have to figure out how to move on. I ask for privacy and kindness because my children are so young.
Initially, the two musicians met in 2015 and got married in April 2019. Moreover, they have two kids: Rhys James, 4, and Willie Jacquet, 6 months. Branch is also the mother of Owen Isabelle, who is 17 years old, from her marriage to bassist Teddy Landau, which ended in 2014.
The singer was told to go back to court on Nov. 7 because of the incident.
The Black Keys are touring in support of their 11th album, Dropout Boogie, which came out in May. Branch is getting ready to release her fourth album, The Trouble With Fever, on Sept. 16.
