On Monday, scientists significantly announced their discovery of water molecules in the lunar soil samples. China’s robotic Chang’e-5 mission in 2020 returned these samples back by The soil samples are spheres of glass made of melted and chilled rock.

“Heat the beads in order to extract the water.”

There are consequently no bodies of liquid water on the moon, as there are on Earth. Nonetheless, experts believe that its surface holds a significant amount of water. These include permanently shaded and mineral-bound ice patches.

Researchers significantly believe it may be able to extract water from glass beads by heating them. It then creates a vapour that would then condenses into water.

“All we have to do is heat these glass beads to extract the water,” Hu explained.

The capsule carrying the soil samples returned to Earth and landed in Inner Mongolia, which is located in northern China.

Approximately 1.7 kilogrammes (3.8 pounds) of soil were collected during the Chang’e-5 mission.

Hu however stated that he used the tiny amount of soil available. He used to study to examine 32 glass beads ranging in diameter from 10 to 100 micrometres.
