Everything went according to plan until suddenly it didn’t. The usual hundreds of Babar Azam’s (fourth in five innings) prepared Pakistan for a fairly simple 306 chase before the medium stuttering left the West Indies. After all, it was Kushdir Shah’s cameo jewel that smashed the four 6s on their way to the undefeated 23-ball 41 to see Pakistan return home with five wickets and four balls. That meant that the 12th ODI 100 was so noble that Shai Hope, who was able to win the game on his own, wasted a bit because the visitor missed a tough ODI.

Goals didn’t scare Pakistan so much, at least as long as some combinations of the top three credible were still in the middle. When Jaden Shields drove Fakar Zaman to a one-on-short flat bat, it brought Imam and Babar together-two men joined forces to hunt 349 against Australia. However, the fast bowlers of the West Indies kept things tight on the surface of the Multan, and the ball did not seem to arrive easily at night. For some time, Pakistan could only prevent it from arriving. Don’t lose your collection of wickets waiting for batting to be easier.
Babal spent time on the first 50 runs, but Imam was faster. After successfully surviving the marginal lbw call early on, he was responsible for curbing bids, finding regular limits, and canceling strikes regularly. It took him 56 balls to reach half a century, at which point the question rate was 7. Eventually, however, the threat of ticket gates emanating from the West Indies subsided and Bavar began to take action. By the time Akeal hit Hosein and removed Imam, Babar was in full swing and was racing to the 17th ODI 100 without stopping. Mohammad Liswan was scrutinizing the lack of form in this form and was dating him only for a clear contrast with the T20 record. Pakistan was aiming for something like a target cruise, requiring 72 for 9 overs, with 8 wickets still in hand.
