After over two decades, Panic! at the Disco is coming to an end

After seven albums and nearly two decades, the emo-pop band Panic! at the Disco is calling it quits. The group was formed in 2004.

The statement was made on Instagram on Tuesday by the band’s leader and lone surviving original member, Brendon Urie. The band’s final tour will be for the upcoming 2022 album Viva Las Vengeance, according to the article.

Urie remarked, “Growing up in Vegas, I could never have anticipated where this life would take me. But sometimes a journey must come to an end so that another can start.

He also revealed that his wife is expecting their first child in the message.

I’m going to put a stop to this chapter of my life and devote all of my attention to my family, Urie wrote.

Before he made this statement, Urie had been working on Panic! at the Disco all by himself for a number of years. The band’s last album with all of the original members was called Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!

More than a dozen of Panic! at Disco’s songs have been on the Billboard Hot 100, and two of them have reached the top 10: “High Hopes” reached No. 4 in 2019, and “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” reached No. 7 in 2006.

Tuesday, Panic! at Disco’s lone remaining original member, Brendon Urie, said the band “will be no more” on its Instagram page.

Urie intends to put his family first:

Urie, 35, revealed that he and his wife, Sarah, are having a child, and he intends to put his family first. “Watching my wife becoming a mother and the idea of being a father is both exhilarating and humbling. I’m excited about this upcoming adventure,” he wrote.

With two Top 10 singles “High Hopes” in 2019 and “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” in 2006, the band had 15 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. With “Death of a Bachelor” in 2016 and “Pray For the Wicked” in 2018, they achieved two No. 1 albums. “Death of a Bachelor” received a Grammy nomination for a best rock album.

It has been a pleasure to not just share the stage with so many amazing people but also to spend our time with you, Urie said, whether you have been with us from the beginning or are now discovering us.

In 2004, when they were still in high school, Urie and his childhood friends Ryan Ross, who played guitar, Spencer Smith, who played drums, and Brent Wilson, who played bass, put together the band. Jon Walker plays bass, and Dallon Weekes can play a lot of different instruments.

Even though he flew the band’s flag alone in later years, Urie discovered other artistic pursuits, including a duet with Taylor Swift on “ME!” and made his Broadway stage debut in “Kinky Boots” in 2017. He later composed songs for the “SpongeBob SquarePants” television series.

Panic! At The Disco Have Stopped for the Day:

They have been a major and exciting part of the alternative, rock, emo, and pop scenes for 20 years, breaking records, blazing new paths, and inspiring a lot of people. Seven albums were released significantly over the course of their career, with the most recent being ‘Viva Las Vengeance’ in 2022.

Well, consequently, it was one hell of a journey.

I could never have envisioned where this life would take me growing up in Vegas. There are so many places in the world, not to mention all the folks we’ve met along the journey.

“Sarah and I are going to have a baby shortly”:

A trip must occasionally come to an end in order for another to start. Although some of you might have heard, we have been attempting to keep it to ourselves. Sarah and I are going to have a baby shortly! It’s wonderful and humbling to think about being a father and seeing my wife becoming a mother. This next journey excites me.

Having stated that, I’m going to put an end to this chapter of my life and devote all of my attention to my family. Panic! There will be no more At The Disco.

I sincerely appreciate all of your help throughout the years. I’ve been sitting here trying to think of the right way to say this, but I can’t even begin to express how much it means to us. It has been a pleasure to not only share the stage with so many brilliant people but also to spend time with you, whether you have been with us from the beginning or are just discovering us. I’m looking forward to our final run together with everyone in Europe and the UK.
