These 4 Romantic Webtoon Heroes Would Make the Ideal Shojo Leads

Despite the fact that webtoons have been popular for a while, several of the romantic stories have overused tropes, much like many of the most well-known shojo anime and manga series. In actuality, there are several fantastic romantic WEBTOON Heroes, comics with outstanding female protagonists that would fit in a conventional shojo and romance scenario quite well

Thus, shojo manga doesn’t always have to centre on high school relationships and can go deeply into more “mature” subjects. Thanks to their strong personalities and determination to persist in the face of adversity, these four WEBTOON girls are each ideal candidates to serve as the main character in their own shojo series.

Nari Oh (Odd Girl Out) Possesses the Capabilities of a Great Shojo Lead

Nari Oh, the lead character of the webcomic Odd Girl Out.

Morangji’s web series, Odd Girl Out, has excellent writing. The protagonist of the narrative is a high school student named Nari Oh who hopes that by finally enrolling in high school, she will be able to transform her life after years of being tormented for being overweight and “ugly” and being unpopular. Nari takes satisfaction in her weight loss and newfound ability to “take care” of her appearance. But when Yuna Lim, the bully from her youth, expresses interest in becoming Nari’s friend, things take an unexpected turn. Two more attractive girls express interest in Nari and desire friendship with her as well. Nari’s once-calm high school entrance becomes a life full of unanticipated turns when she finds herself suddenly surrounded by “pretty people”.

A strong bond exists between Nari and her pals, and it’s enjoyable and healthy to witness it develop throughout Odd Girl Out. Nari initially disapproves of Yuna, Mirae, and Seonji. They stick out too much, she claims, and she doesn’t want to become their “ugly” buddy. The girls support one another and gradually get close and excellent friends even from the beginning. Nari would make a fantastic lead in a shojo manga because of their inspiring relationship and the way the series wonderfully demonstrates her inherent leadership skills.

Shojo Could Use More of Camilla’s (Brass and Sass) Bold Personality

Brass and Sass’ Camilla from the WEBTOON.

The story of Camilla, a high school student, is told in Brass and Sass, a WEBTOON series made by Antlerella. Camilla can’t wait to start playing an instrument and enrol in band when she starts high school. After attempting numerous instruments, Camilla realises she isn’t “musically gifted.” Disappointed, the band instructor ultimately gives her a trumpet, which she immediately falls in love with. Victor, a classmate, offers to help her because she still has trouble understanding it right away.

Romance is a key component in Brass and Sass, particularly the budding rom-com romance between Camilla and Victor. However, this isn’t really relevant to Camilla’s qualities as a possible shojo heroine. She is quite tenacious, has a strong personality, and won’t give up until she is forced to. She would provide a fantastic counterpoint to the conventional shojo heroine, who lacks a strong narrative presence.

Delicious Hound: Lucy Fuji’s

In Shojo Anime, Perseverance Would Be Refreshing from the cartoon Gourmet Hound, Lucy and Graham

Lucy Fuji, a young adult with an extraordinary nose, is the main character of Gourmet Hound. Lucy experiences depression following the death of her grandma and the culinary staff turnover at her favourite restaurant, Demanche. Despite her gloomy past, Lucy constantly looks ahead and moves forward, but she is gradually losing everything that once felt like home to her. Then she runs across Graham Ramos and Brie Malik, two cooks who previously worked at Demanche and are now launching their own restaurant called Gourmet Hound. Lucy is desperate to recreate the flavour that made Demanche feel like “home” to her even after she meets them, so she works with them to find the former cooks who used to work there.

Although Gourmet Hound’s characters all distinguish out in unique ways, Lucy has a very distinctive personality. She lacks the ability to recognise when to give up, which is the main theme of the narrative. Unlike most shojo heroines, Lucy doesn’t let her love interest lead her around like a dog. Instead, she is tenacious. She enjoys taking on own tasks and is competent. She and Graham are falling for each other, and their relationship is adorable and heartwarming—especially considering that they didn’t fall in love at first sight.

Many shojo fans find Sarah Lin (from The Kiss Bet) to be a relatable high school protagonist.

Patrick, Sara, and Oliver are the main characters of The Kiss Bet webcomic.

Sara Lin, a senior in high school who has yet to have her first kiss, is the star of The Kiss Bet, a film written and directed by Ingrid Ochoa. With close friends and a self-described “cool” dad, Sara Lin leads a wonderful existence. She therefore has no time to stress over the fact that she is the “only” high school senior who hasn’t had her first kiss. That is, until she accepts her friend Patrick’s dare to ask a stranger at the tube station whether she can kiss him. Sara’s life couldn’t possibly get any worse until she found out she was failing maths. Also needed a tutor, who just so happened to be the boy she met at the tube stop.

Sara Lin, in spite of her dynamic attitude, is definitely the greatest choice for anyone looking to read about a “traditional” shojo protagonist. High school romance and related events take front stage in The Kiss Bet. Sara is somewhat like Usagi from Sailor Moon, but without the awesome powers; aside from the context of the story, she cries easily and becomes annoyed when faced with a tiny inconvenience. Some readers might be able to identify with her because of this. Especially if they are dealing with similar issues in high school.
