Shakira The Pop Star Faces Eight Years in Prison For Tax Trial

A Spanish prosecutor has sentenced Colombian- Shakira, a pop artist, received an eight-year sentence in a long-awaited trial on suspicion of tax evasion. Moreover, She has been accusing of Shakira not paying a tax of € 14.5 million ($ 15 million)  in Spain between 2012 and 2014. 

NOT PAYING A TAX OF € 14.5 MILLION

 A Spanish prosecutor says on Friday stated she would request that Colombian singer Shakira be giving an eight-year, two-month prison term. if she was convicted of tax evasion in a long-awaited trial. Moreover, She (whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebaracripol) has been accusing of not paying Between 2012 and 2014, a tax of € 14.5 million ($ 15 million) was paying to the Spanish government. Additionally, the prosecution declared that it will ask for a €24 million ($24 million) fine.

 The indictment contains six counts of charges against her. The singer declined the prosecutor’s offer this week and chose a  trial instead. The hearing date is still pending. A spokeswoman for London said in a statement Friday about Shakira. He says that ” she has always worked together, complied with the law, and has shown impeccable behavior as an individual and as a taxpayer.” A spokeswoman accused the Spanish tax authorities of infringing their rights. 

 Shakira’s Spanish public relations team said earlier this week that the artist had deposited what she allegedly borrowed. This was including interest of € 3 million. Barcelona prosecutors claim that Grammy winners spent more than half each year in Spain. It is between 2012 and 2014  and had to pay taxes in the country. 

She recently ended her 11-year relationship with FC Barcelona’s Star Gerard Piqué, who has two children. Her family once lived in Barcelona.
