Sheryl Lee Ralph , an ageless stalwart of the industry who won an Emmy as a first-time nominee at the age of 66, reveled in her victory by yelling strong lyrics about being a “Endangered Species,” and asking others to never give up on themselves no matter how long it takes to be noticed.

Lee Ralph, star of “Abbott Elementary,” during her victory speech at an Emmy she reminded the crowd (and TV viewers abroad) that she has tremendous pipes.

For her role as veteran educator Barbara Howard, Ralph received an Emmy for best supporting actress in a comedy. “Endangered Species” while on stage.

“I am an endanger species, but I sing no victim’s song,” Upon her entrance to the stage, everyone erupted in applause. “I am a woman, an artist, and I know where my voice belongs.”

 Her victory surprised Ralph.

Ralph shock at her success caught off guard. Her co-star, Tyler James Williams, helped her up onto the platform as her name was called. After calming down, she performed an a cappella song and gave an inspiring statement of triumph.

“To everybody who has ever, ever had a dream and believing your dream wasn’t, wouldn’t, couldn’t come true. I am here to tell you that this is what believing looks like,” in her words cheers. “This is what striving looks like, and don’t ever give up on yourself.”

“The Actress” thanked “Abbott Elementary” creator and her co-star on set.

“The Actress” praised she and her co-star “Abbott Elementary” producer Quinta Brunson. Senator Vincent Hughes of Pennsylvania, her husband, and their two children, for their support.

Starting in the 1970s with tiny parts on television, Ralph made her Broadway debut although the first production of was showing in 1981. “Dreamgirls,” reason why she was nominating for a Tony Award. The nomination and victory for an Emmy are her first.

“Abbott Elementary” this year received seven Emmy nominations.

Ralph looked stunning in a black velvet strapless gown with an orange underlay. Also an upper thigh slit, and she wore a bedazzled high ponytail, with social media praising her seductive style that defied her age.

“You don’t make it at 30, but you can make it at 50,” Ralph stated in an interview with E! “You don’t make it at 50, but you can make it at 60 and still give them goodness.”
