The Las Vegas Raiders hoping for a fresh start in 2022:

After parting ways with interim head coach Rich Bisaccia and replacing him with newly hired Josh McDaniels. The Las Vegas Raiders are hoping to start fresh in 2022. The quarterback position, and whether Derek Carr is the proper guy for the job moving forward, is one of the problems facing the team.

Following McDaniels’ gushing admiration for Carr during his inaugural news conference, the Raiders appear to be comfortable with the 30-year-old as their quarterback of the future, according to the latest reports. The Raiders are “prepared to commit” to Carr, according to Ian Rapoport, by extending his contract:

In 2018:

In 2018, Carr agreed to a five-year, $125 million contract with the Raiders. That deal will expire at the end of the 2022 season, making him an unrestricted free agent. Rather than try to rebuild with a new quarterback, the Raiders appear to believe they can achieve their goals with Carr and are willing to hand him a contract extension to keep him in Las Vegas for the time being.

Derek Carr had a strong season:

Carr had a strong season with the Raiders last season, despite the team’s issues, which included Jon Gruden’s controversial exit and the arrest of rookie wide receiver Henry Ruggs, among other things. He threw for 4,804 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in leading the Raiders to a postseason spot. It was the Raiders’ first postseason berth since 2016, as well as Carr’s. Following what can only be described as a good season for the Raiders, it appears that signing Carr to a long-term contract is the next step.
