Premier Mark McGowan is advising parents of children aged five and up for vaccination against COVID-19 before school begins. WA children will have access to an additional 4700 COVID-19 immunization appointments prior to the start of the school year.

Between January 22 and January 30, the State Government said, extra appointments at State-run clinics would be offered for youngsters aged five to eleven.

Beginning Wednesday morning, fresh reservations will be available on the Vaccinate WA website.

In Western Australia, more than 27,000 youngsters aged five to eleven have received their first dose of vaccination.

 

Mr. McGowan said the children’s vaccine blitz, which begins this week, would result in thousands more first-dose appointments. In addition, an additional 4700 COVID-19 vaccination appointments are available at state-run clinics from January 22 to January 30.

At the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, a new pediatric vaccination clinic will open.

Thousands of parents have applied since Monday last week when youngsters aged five to eleven became eligible.

 

They have scheduled their children’s first doses, and the demand for appointments is still high.

He said, “Grow.”

“If you want vaccination of your  child, it is now a critical step in helping to keep them safe when they return to school.”

GPs, pharmacies, Aboriginal Medical Services, and GP respiratory clinics can also schedule appointments for children.

 

State governments around the country are gearing up for the start of the school year, with NSW and Victoria developing a return-to-school strategy. Moreover, that includes the use of quick antigen tests on a regular basis.

When school resumes, NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant expects the state’s daily COVID-19 case numbers to rise.

“Yes, we expect an upsurge in cases when school resumes,” she stated. “However, as a community, we can take steps to mitigate this.”

 

 

 

She urged individuals to vaccinate or enhance their vaccines during the following two weeks. It, however,  reduces the risk of illness while school resumes.

 

 

 

Premier Daniel Andrews of Victoria has announced a three-month delay between the second and third doses of COVID-19 vaccination.

 

Before school started, an additional 1.2 million Victorians are eligible.

 

The vaccination drive coincides with the addition of the Apple store in central Perth. This is for an increasing list of WA exposure locations.

 

 

 

Anyone who visited the Hay Street store between 12.15 pm and 12.45 pm on Saturday, January 15, or between 4.15 pm and 4.45 pm on Sunday, January 16, must monitor for symptoms. Tests are a must and isolate if symptoms emerge.
