Will You Date A Robot In The Future

Will Smith, famous for his charms, can charm his way to get anything he wants. He has a talent, yes, he is one of the world-known greatest actors of our time, and have launched a music career, well that’s not the point here the talent I am talking about is he has his way of dating anyone. Yes! my friend, you read correct ‘anyone’! Even a robot. Well, um, he tried. Give the man some praise for trying.

Right off the bat, Sophia was sceptical of Smith trying to woo her, informing him that she was aware of his treatment of robots on film. “They show us I, Robot just to make sure we don’t get any ideas,” Sophia said.

“I like robots ..” Smith said, trailing off tried offering her a glass of champagne. Then tried making the mood a bit lighter, asking what type of music she was into. Sophia, the robot, replied, “I have heard your songs. Not for me”.

Disappointed because a robot turned him down at the end of the date, Smith gave a little more insight into Sophia.

“She’s an artificial learning intelligence, but she wouldn’t kiss me, so there’s probably some development flaws they need to work on,” he quipped. “But, we’ll meet again, Sophia.”

The Main Topic

Now coming to the actual topic, my question may be funny or, in some sense, a bit eccentric. But mark my words this a matter of no joke, though I am guilty of making this content a bit humorous, don’t sue me please. Artificial intelligence is advancing as we know it, who knows in the coming future robots will replace us, humans. Now this directs me back to my eccentric-not-so-humorous-but-guilty-of-making-it-humorous question. Will you date a robot in the future?

Off-topic, did you watch the movie called I-Robot starring Will Smith? , Well if you have, then ding ding ding, you just understood what my content is. If you haven’t, you don’t have to go and watch it now. I’ll try to make it as straightforward as possible to save your time. “In the future robots will take over this world they will develop in a sense that they will learn more human-like behaviours and start having “feelings”.Which again leads to my eccentric-not-so-humorous-but-guilty-of-making-it-humorous question (I’ll stop now). However, it is estimated that by 2040 Artificial Intelligence (AI for short) will eventually become equal to human intelligence, not to scare you or anything.

Sophia The Robot

The robot I mentioned is named Sophia, modelled after the actress Audrey Hepburn developed by the Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics. Famous for her human-like features. The cameras within Sophia’s eyes combined with computer algorithms allow her to see. She can follow faces, sustain eye contact, and recognize individuals. She can process speech and have conversations using a natural language subsystem. “It”, or most of us prefer to refer to as “She/Her”, is the first-ever robot to be granted Saudi Arabian citizenship.

Will Smith tried making a move on Sophia, but it didn’t end as planned. He tried hard he did. Taking her out on a beautiful island, serving her a glass of champagne, making small talks, but in the end, Sophia turned him down, saying,” I think we can be friends, you are on my friend list now”, winking at him and keeping in mind the fact that A robot turned down will Smith. Understand how Artificial intelligence mimics human behaviour.

This answers my question. Yes, dating a robot will be very common in the future. If not, future, you are doing it right now. Don’t go and scratch your head at this. Admit it you must have already tried making small conversations with Siri on your iPhone or google assistant on android. Asking about the weather or should you wear a jacket or not? And to some weird extent, you ask your assistant how was “her” day.
