Willie Spence- The Runner-up of Season 13 American Idol, Passes Away

Willie Spence, the runner-up on Season 19 of “American Idol” and a musician who gained notoriety as a kid for his cover of Rihanna’s popular song “Diamonds,” has passed away, the show announced on social media on Wednesday.

Runner-up on “American Idol” Willie Spence perishes in an automobile accident at age 23.

He had an ages of 23.

Willie Spence was a valued part of the “American Idol” family, and his passing has left us in shock, according to the description of a video of his “Idol” audition that was uploaded to the show’s official Instagram account. “He will be much missed. He was a tremendous talent who brightened up every place he visited. We offer our sympathy to his family.

 According to CNN affiliate WSB and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the singer died in an incident in Tennessee on Tuesday.

Based on the accident report, Spence was operating an SUV when he veered off the road and struck a vehicle that was parked on the shoulder.

A family member reportedly told TMZ that Spence passed away following a collision. The Spence team has been contacted by CNN. . 

The native of West Palm Beach, Florida, moved to Georgia as a child along with his family. Spence was originally notice while performing in his neighborhood high school.

Over 15 million people have watch a 2017 video of him singing “Diamonds” in what seem to be a school, which went viral.

He was invite to appear on Steve Harvey’s daytime talk program as a result of his performance. Spence also selected to sing the song on his 2021 “American Idol” audition.

 Lionel Richie called him “unbelievable,” and Luke Bryan said he didn’t want the singer’s performance to stop after he completely wowed the judges.

“When you consider your future and the speech you have because you are aware that it causes people to stop in their footsteps, this is the enchantment you have, what else do you desire it to look like in five years?” Perry put it to Spence. In your wildest fantasies, if there was nothing in your way?

Spence responded, “I just want to share my gift and have my voice heard throughout the world.”

I hope to win a Grammy someday. In five years, I hope to be there. 

Katharine McPhee Foster, who finished second in the fifth season of “American Idol,” paid tribute to Spence on Instagram stories. Spence was one of the contestants she meet on “Idol” during his season.

“Tonight, I received terrible news. She posted a clip of her and Spence from the performance along with the statement, “Sweet @williespenceofficial died away in a car accident. 

“I’m just 23 years old. There is never anything promising in life, which is very unfair. Willie, may God grant you peace. Knowing you and singing with you was a pleasure
